If you knew Rory take a moment to remember your best memory
of him, then remember your worst - and treasure them both.

I miss you, Rory. I keep wanting to talk to you about new books I find, or restaurants I think you’d like. Late at night, when everyone else is sleeping, I still get the urge to just call you up to chat; somehow, even though your number is still on my cell phone, you’re not there.

You’d be proud of the shop - still going strong - and this site too. (Thanks Todd, and everyone else who’s worked so hard!) You’d be surprised and secretly thrilled that so many of us miss you so much. And you’d cover it up with brusque orders to clean the counters and sweep the floors and straighten the shelves . . . and then go hold court outside with your mug of tea for an hour or three.

I wish I could stand out there with you now.

I’m with Kathleen. The only silver lining in missing you so much is knowing how much you would have liked being missed. We talk about you often and think about you more, and I’ll never lose the nagging feeling that it’s been too terribly long since we last spoke.

    Rory

I have been thinking of you all week. I miss you.

I told our story tonight at dinner. You were such an important part of who I became in my life.

Thank you for your love, your friendship and your loyalty

    love you still and always

I remember Rory as, first, a fellow employee at Best of Two World, (then in heartbreak over a breakup), and then later as a friend, patron and comrade. I was there, along w/ Stichman, when we were cashing our paychecks out of the register, and then, later, inviting me to Poker Nights (never made one), and dropping by on the night of the Rodney King Riots to warn him of the ‘guests’ that might be dropping by in a few blocks (let’s put up the plywood, shall we?). Obsessed, focused, knowlegeable, tortured and loyal to his friends, let’s drop in and surprise him in Valhalla, where he’s the eternal Viking I knew in ‘81.
